Lego Birthday Party

I know I missed the mark last week...but here it is.....
The LEGO BIRTHDAY Party!!

I used my Gypsy to create these adorable Lego men (and women).
I used Accent Essentials, George and Basic Shapes, Plantin Schoolbook, Slumber Party, Don Juan, Varsity Letter, Birthday Bash, Everyday Paper Dolls and a font cartridge (can't remember which one).  I am SUPER happy with how they turned out!  By the time I was done I had about 14 layers in this Gypsy file, I thought I was going to crash my G.
I created each element separately so I could cut them in different colors.  Originally I wanted to cut a bunch and have the kids dress them up as one of their activities at the party.  But I ended up not having the time.  I cut all the hair and head wear from the Paper Dolls Cartridge.  I let my son choose the hair style and color for each character.  He liked the baseball cap best.
I wanted one hand up so they could hold a birthday sign or balloons.  My husband cut a 2 x 3 piece of wood to 4" long and then cut a slit to stand them up.  Then they were painted bright colors to match.
The Lego feet were a rectangle I popped up so it would look just like the real thing.
I used my computer and the Wordart function to create the lettering for these cute cupcake pics.  Then put a mini Lego head on the other side.
I did the same here with the banner.  These heads were actually left over from the Thank yous, I thought they were perfect on the banner too!  I love all the pennants on the Birthday Bash cartridge and the bold Varsity Font.
For the favors I created a Lego block box.  It opened like a pizza box and we put all the goodies for the kids inside.  I used a circle punch and pop'em up to look like real blocks.
Dylan said we should take a picture with "stuff" inside so you could see how they work.
The finished size of each box was 6" x 3".
Last we have the Thank yous.  I added hair that looks like my boy, since he was the one that would be filling them out and sending them.  I thought it would be funny!
I cut the thanks from the Don Juan cartridge.  It was a tag but I hid the tag and cut it on the layer so you could see the negative come through.
I found these two free Lego fonts online and downloaded them to my computer.  I used the lettering for the note inside and then created a border of Lego minifigures along the bottom.

The cake was a bunch of blocks stacked up like Lego's too.  My Aunt Liz made it and it turned out great!  The pictures not so much, we bought bright colored flame candles and it needed to be dark to see the colors so we didn't get a good picture of him blowing out the candles.  :(

I hope you like what I have shared.  If you have any questions just ask.

Now I have to begin the brainstorming session...what should I do for my daughter's birthday....?

America Banner

I love, love, love how this turned out!
I used a really think glitter card stock that I found at Michael's.  It is perfect for the banners because it is really strong.
Most of the cuts are from the Independence Day Solutions Cartridge.
I really liked the wagon, reminds me of the small town parades in Utah, where I grew up.  I wasn't thinking when I cut the letters and the top of the wagon in white.  Adding the ribbon was a great solution and made the wagon more patriotic.
I didn't like the way the white shadow was lost on the silver glitter paper so I used the same idea as the wagon.  Now you can really see Lady Liberty!
I found these brads on a website years ago and loved them.  I was just waiting for the right project to use them on.

The letters are from the Storybook cartridge and then embossed with the big circles folder.
I really like making things to display in my home for the holidays.

Stay tuned....later this week I'll show you how I went all out for my sons Lego Birthday!

Mountainman Rendezvous

Sorry it's been so long.  I didn't realize how CRAZY the last few weeks of school are.  My oldest is in first grade and I didn't remember it being this crazy last year.  I'm thinking they were easing us into the routine in kindergarten...next year I will be better prepared and have my sneakers on!

So Many Pictures.....My husband took the kids to The Mountainman Rendezvous at Spring Mountain Ranch while I was at a crop.  There were so many things to do and so many pictures that it was hard to decide which to put on the page.
After all the pictures there wasn't much space for anything else.
So I kept is simple...the title cut from Old West.  I love the different fonts on that cartridge.
I decided to add the date to the boards on a little sign.  And some doodling on the shadow of the title.
I added twine to the rope font ...just cause I thought it was funny.
To make getting all the pictures I wanted on the page I resorted to the good 'ol college.  I made 3, one of the petting zoo and one for each child of the games the played.  In this one you can see my baby girl holding a snake she won!
Until the next time....
