Winter Gala Program

My daughter's preschool class had a Winter Gala Program for parents.  It was to showcase what they learned each day and was my daughters first program.  So the event had to make it in the 2010 family album.
The children did showed us some classroom exercises then sang songs complete with choreography!  Then parents to browsed through the classroom to see all the children's work.
I love this paper!  The colors matched perfectly with Stampin' Up Riding Hood Red, Baja Blue and Chocolate Chip, which are a few of my favorites.
I added Stickles to some of the snowflakes.  These were cut from the Winter Lace cartridge.
Did some doodling.  I never used to doodle but thanks to my friend Kristy, I do it all the time now!  I love the whimsical look it adds.
The snowmen are from the Winter Woodland cartridge.  I added some buttons here because I was going to enter in into the button page contest but didn't get it done in time.
This is a new punch that I borrowed while at a crop.  I love the big circles in the middle of the scallops!
Hope you like what I have for you today.  I have been super busy creating decorations and more for my sons upcoming birthday party.  Stay tuned to see what I have come up with!

Captain Cool

In 2005 my Hubby and I sold our first home and purchased a new one.  We had to downsize to an apartment for three months until the new one was finished being built.  We were only allowed to take essentials and the rest was stored in a semi-trailer until the house was finished.  I didn't know what I was going to do without my scrapbooking supplies.  (I did take some stuff with me hehehe.)  It ended up being alright because it was summer and we could spend a lot of time at the pool.  Dylan really liked the pool too.  He would get so excited every time I put on his swim suit.  Isn't it funny how kids just know what's coming by the routine we create.  He loved the boat and would sometimes get angry when it was time to leave.
I did this layout while at a crop a few months back.  It was for a page layout contest using buttons....I am not a button person so this was really hard for me.  I had a sticker kit that matched the colors in the picture so I wanted to use it.  I added the "Captain",welded with the Gypsy in yellow and the COOL for the title.  I thought it was cute, since he is the captain of his boat.  LOL
I used twine to tie the tag from the "O" and did a little journeling.
...And here are my buttons.  I like how the colors all work together and how bright and cheery the layout is.  It will be perfect for the wall of scrapbooking layouts lining the hall to the kids rooms.

Kindergarten

This page is one of the first pages I designed with my Cricut.  I was doing a lot of cards and invitations and other things but not really scrapbooking.  I wanted it to be super simple.
The only real embellishments I added were the brad in the center of the scissors that I cut out in a shiny metallic paper and the glittery ribbon around the end of the pencil.
I think that school pictures are kind of boring but I still wanted them in our albums so the kids would be able to look back at them.  This helps make them a little more interesting.  Until next time.....

Wine, Fun & Friends

Every year for the holidays my best friend and her hubby have a wine party for a few friends.  The food is always delicious and the wine is good too.  :)  Everyone always has a good time.  I love getting the adult time with friends catching up and relaxing.
I used the Celebrate with Flourish cartridge for poinsettias, ornament and the wine bottle.  I wish I would have switched the black and gold layers so the shadow was black...maybe some day I'll re-cut it.  (In all my spare time.)
I used vellum for the wine glasses and love how that looks, especially with the ribbon added.
I used some gold stickers for the "fun &", again I should have chosen the black ones.
"Friends" is cut with the Calligraphy Inspiration Font.  I cut it while at a crop and ran out of time so it didn't get glued down.  I lost the dot for the I but I like the bling.
The wine banner is the crest card feature from the Alphalicious cartridge.  I layered them and welded them together then cut off the left side of the "w" card along the fold line.  (*note: don't know if I have said it before but I {heart} my Gypsy!)  This is my favorite part of this layout because it is something new that I have not done before.
So for today...try something new!

Cricut-tastic Award

Thank you Ashley AND Terri!!
Ashley of Welch Creations and Terri of MyNeed2Craft have each passed this award onto me! Thank you for the recognition ladies.  I feel very blessed especially with all the talent that is out there.

Here are the rules:
Wear this badge proudly on your blog and share it with friends. Share this award with 10 people that you think have Cricut-tastic blogs. You also have to tell 5 cricut related things about yourself.

Here are 5 little Cricuty things about me:
1) My first experience with a bug was the baby, a friend found it on sale at Wal-mart for $88, with 2 carts inside.  We knew nothing about Cricut back then but knew that was a hot smokin' deal and so the story began.
2)  The Expression became a necessity because IT cut 12x12.  So I bought it and the baby went to my sisters house....
3)  I do not buy a purse that does not have room to carry my Gypsy.  I take it everywhere with me!  I also downloaded all the booklets to my iPad, makes it nice to browse for ideas while on the go.
4) The idea of printing and cutting was to hard to resist and therefore the Imagine joined the family.  I have only done a few projects with the Imagine but I do love the way they turned out.
5) Since I did not use my Imagine very often I told myself, "YOU DON"T NEED THE E2....but I caved, it was delivered last week!

So there are five things about me...now for those I will pass this recognition to....
4) Bug Junkie @ Bug Junkie
6) Liza @ Hoo's Crafty
8) Melinda @ The Scrap Farm
9) Katie @ My Paper Haven

And since I got it from two co-crafters I get to give it to 20 ladies...so here are 10 more.

2) Okie @ Okieladybug
3) Ruthie @ September Ninth
4) Sherrie @ Scraps with Passion
6) Cindy @ Scrap-Obsessed
7) Cindy @ Royal Things
8) Theresa @ Scrappers Anonymous

All of these ladies are an inspiration to me.  I love seeing what they have created and hope you will enjoy checking them out too.

More Baby Cakes

I know I've been MIA for a while.  But I have finally gotten those pictures of more baby cakes.  Now the first few were not made my me.  My Auntie M made them for two different showers.  In the first picture is a large baby cake and two smaller cupcakes.  She used washcloths and receiving blankets to make the cupcakes.  I love all the flowers, so girlie!  The second photo she made a 3-wheel trike.  This is my favorite!  I think it is absolutely CUTE!!  I know that the trike was much more difficult.  She used receiving blankets, a bottle, socks, and bibs along with the diapers for the tires.

This one she sold to someone who saw the first one and wanted it for a shower they were attending.  I love the spring ribbon and the different colors.  Can you believe this ribbon was a rare find at.....the dollar store!
The bassinet was made from the remaining diapers and ribbon from the cake.  She did use a washcloth the "look" like a blanket on the inside and tulle around the bottom.  The rest is all diapers.
This is the last one...for a while.  The rock star theme was great for a boy.  And this card was perfect.  It was cut from the slumber party cartridge and the rock star is from the rock princess cartridge.

I used bling for the knobs on the guitar and twine for the strings.
I put little knots at the end.  I think it looks like a real guitar with the dials that tighten the strings.
I love how this card turned out.  Hope you enjoyed today's post...it was a little something different.
